[About the Catalogue]
This publication features 55 new works from Pulman’s 2024 solo exhibition Penumbra, along with rare insights into his early creations and exclusive photographic documentation of his artistic process.
The catalog also includes Pulman’s personal reflections, a dialogue between the artist and Dr. Tom Palin, Senior Tutor in Painting at the Royal College of Art, London and two critical essays by:
• Fang-Wei Chang (Former TFAM Senior Curator): Using the concept of ”Penumbra,“ Chang delves into the symbolic object compositions in Pulman’s work, unraveling metaphoric interactions between light and shadow while exploring the artist’s philosophical reflections on existence.
• Robin Peckham (Co-Director, Taipei Dangdai Art & Ideas): Based on an in-depth interview, Peckham examines Pulman’s creative process, detailing how the Penumbra series captures the complexity between light and darkness, clarity and ambiguity, showcasing profound intellectual and emotional depth.
