The Suwon Museum of Art (SUMA) presents feature exhibition Turn Your Lights On, from Tuesday, September 22 through Sunday, December 27, 2020, at Art Space Gwanggyo located inside the Suwon Convention Center.
As a fundamental element that illuminates the world, the “light” in the exhibition title reflects on the values, perceptions, and notions shared across disparate times and societies. This exhibition asks from which perspective and positionalities light, as the root of existence and perception and a symbol of hope and enlightenment, illuminates each subject.
The exhibition features 10 contemporary artists based in seven countries and a total of 20 works ranging from paintings and installations to media works instilled with the artists’ own interpretations of light. The layers of different definitions proposed by the artists intersect and interact with the varied interpretations of the viewers to forge new meanings. The exhibition is divided into three sections as follows.
