Anonymous Narrative – the solo exhibition in 2025. Instead of representative depiction, the anti-narrative and critical thinking of imagery, and put painting viewing into a process of decipherment is my major concern. This destructive practice is aim to illuminate the un-neutral of image, and image is often the filter of visual experience and memory.
Initial with material tangibility, the picture I present are more like fragment of image or the clue of perceptual experience. By diminishing explicity of image, it intentionally becomes the metaphoric semantics in contemporary painting. In Four Triangles, Asymmetrical White or Unfinished Landscape, they demonstrate my concept. Rather utilizing alienative language than realistic depiction, I am trying to lead the viewer to rethink the significant meaning of a painting should be.
In painting, the image is never authentic but is comprehended and interpreted constantly. High resolution is not the necessity for a painting, however, exploring its inauthenticity is essential.
My work reveals certain degree of solitude or alienation. Not bluntly draw the image from memories by means of mimesis, but prefer to present the image with the manner of imply, reduction or monochrome. As it is showed in East Island, Sailing or The Gray before the Nightfall. Sometimes, the value of art becomes shallow easily due to an immediate empathy. Reflexivity is always demanded for an artist. I am not painting for forlic or entertainment. Seeing a painting is complicated behavior especially in an era of excess imagery. I am not offering the answer via the work but questioning why and how we seeing a painting. Such rational approach, may be considered as disobedience to human catharsis and emotional release. Nonetheless, for me, the ultimate of it is romantic and sensitive.
