Overview

The Clay Art Association warmly invites you to embark on a journey into the unique realms of three distinguished artists—Deng Bojun, Wang Shuling, and Zhou Qinghui—through the exhibition titled "Flowing Rhythm: A Dreamscape." Here, you will experience their profound reflections and interpretations of nature, humanity, and culture. These exceptional Taiwanese artists, each with their own distinctive style and perspective, reveal subtle and harmonious connections in their explorations of the spirit. Through their works, you will immerse yourself in a rich tapestry of artistic language, engaging in a dialogue that transcends time and space, inviting contemplation and insight.

Deng Bojun is celebrated for his innovative "rubbing point" technique in ink painting, which shatters the boundaries of traditional ink art to delve into the captivating realm between the natural and the surreal. His artworks intertwine landscapes of mountains and trees, creating dreamlike vistas that are both delicate and grand, whispering secrets of nature and inner emotions. Deng's artistry harmonizes the rigidity of stone textures with the fluidity of ink lines, crafting a visual experience that transcends reality and allows viewers to feel the vibrancy of nature and the essence of life.

Wang Shuling, through her expansive abstract works, explores themes of homeland and fluidity. With flowing brushstrokes and layered colors, she navigates the complexities of Eastern culture and her own identity. Her series, "The Language of Mountains," embodies deep affection for her homeland while reflecting on life in foreign lands. These pieces are not merely visual representations; they serve as emotional releases, enabling viewers to experience the spiritual reconstruction that emerges from cultural fusion. Wang's creative process is akin to a journey of self-discovery, as she reconstructs her understanding of "home" and her recollections of the past through color and form.

Zhou Qinghui elevates photography to new heights with his directorial style, guiding us into a reality brimming with dramatic tension. He excels at capturing fleeting emotions and stories, exploring the fragility and strength of the human spirit through his exquisite and emotive imagery. In his latest works, Zhou reflects on the lives of children with intellectual disabilities, showcasing profound humanistic concern and advocating for understanding and empathy towards marginalized communities. Each photograph marks the beginning of a narrative, inviting viewers to reflect and feel.

"Flowing Rhythm: A Dreamscape" is not only a showcase of the individual styles of these three artists but also a profound reflection and dialogue on contemporary art. This exhibition encourages viewers to seek resonance within the artworks, exploring the delicate interplay between self and environment, culture and emotion. Each piece is a journey, inviting you to step into a world where fantasy and reality intertwine.
