‘Impose a beginning on to the flat plane.’ ─ Paul Klee
None-Space 2014 – A Jo Hsieh Exhibition is a major solo exhibition of the creative work of Jo Hsieh, an artist of ethnic Chinese origin now resident in the UK. Jo holds a master’s degree from the British Royal College of Art and a PhD from Falmouth School of Art, and has been recognized as Royal College of Art LADY. None-space is the life philosophy that underpins Jo’s creative work on the flat plane. Through the series of works exhibited here, Pencil, Tai Chi, Music, Space and Pigments, and in particular the diary-like Self-Portrait series, she shows the macroscopic concept and world of None-Space. She examines how we can transcend the cover of our flesh simulacras and open ourselves to new frequencies of thought and perception that correspond to a brand new world. None-Space is an exploration of ‘purity’ and ‘life’. It investigates how an individual can move from a fundamentally selfish worldview to a selfless one and develop the pure, new world of the spirit. The world and all in it are creations of the heart.
