About Artist

李光裕 Lee-Kuang Yu

1954年生於台灣,70年代中期在台灣完成學院雕塑訓練後,負笈西班牙聖費南度皇家藝術學院及國立馬德里大學美術學院研習西方雕塑技法與理論,師承著名雕塑家托雷多。學成歸國後任教於台北藝術大學、台灣藝術大學,直至2006年退休,創作至今。李光裕以其融合現代與傳統的造形思維,具象中帶抽象的形構方式,結合東方文化於藝術創作,形塑出極富個人特色的雕塑美學風格。在台灣雕塑史的發展中,李光裕的造型語言跨越文化、歷史的向度,是標示禪學、道家思想及現代主義交融的文化座標。他的創作不屬於一般慣習的風格歸類,而是以自身獨具的技法、風格、材料構成融合的語言,呈現台灣藝術內蘊的多元文化本質,也標識了台灣在地的文化基底表現。曾於西班牙、奧地利、日本、新加坡等地舉行展覽。台灣三大美術館包括台北市立美術館、國立台灣美術館及高雄市立美術館收藏其多件作品。台大醫院捷運站、市民大道及高雄大學亦可見其多件大型公共藝術作品。

Lee Kuang-Yu was born in 1954 in Taiwan. In the early 1970, he entered the Department of Sculpture of the National College of Arts (predecessor of the National Taiwan University of Arts). Following graduation in 1975, he went to Spain to study western sculptural technique and theory in Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando and Universidad Complutense de Madrid respectively and studied with celebrated sculptor Toledo. On returning to Taiwan, he taught at the Taipei National University of the Arts and the National Taiwan University of Arts, retiring in 2006 to devote himself to his work. Lee Kuang-Yu’s creations crosses cultural and historical boundaries, representing a cultural marker in which traditional Buddhist and Daoist thought intertwines with modernism. His work cannot be assigned to any usual stylistic category. Instead, his works create a unique language with his incomparable skill, style and materials which in turn embodies the complex nature of Taiwanese art while representing the essence of Taiwanese culture. His work has previously been exhibited in Spain, Austria, Japan and Singapore. His works can be seen in the public spaces or National Taiwan University Hospital MRT station, on Civic Boulevard, and at National Sun Yat-sen University in Kaohsiung. Within Taiwan, three major galleries have collected many of his works.

 

霍 剛 Ho Kan

1932年生於南京,成長養成教育於台灣。來台就讀台北師範藝術系時,隨李仲生學畫,霍剛是創設「東方畫會」的八大響馬之一:東方畫會是六○年代最早成立的現代畫會;一群不願受時流束縳的青年,仗著初生之犢不畏虎的精神,不約而同地,向西方尋求發展,吸取最新、最現代的觀念與技法,企圖使中國的繪畫脫胎換骨。霍剛的作品有書法的結構,有金石印面大塊色面鋪陳的趣味,加上擷取自超現實主義的神秘性與奇異特色,共同架構出他那「另類平面雕刻氣質」的藝術表情。1964年離開台灣,帶著東方的精神,投入西方藝壇的瀚海中,三十餘年來不曾放棄或改變。他初到義大利,當時帕洛克(Pollock),克萊恩(Kline),克利(Klee)對東方文字藝術的挪用,不免給了霍先生無限的衝擊;他對書法、金石的研究,以及文化圖騰和器皿的分析之後,除去物象的感官功能性,探討其精神內質,重新用物理性的思維來解構圖像。

旅居義大利的霍剛,五十年來用不斷思索的感覺來畫生命。他走過文化貧乏的五○年代,曾從支離、沉鬱的調子,走向開朗、純粹;從無意識的超現實幻想,轉為內斂感恩的形而上節奏。如今許許多多複雜多元的意象,都被他還原到單純而確定的畫面,其表現形式很西方,但精神卻是抒情得東方。

Ho Kan was born in Nanjing, China in 1932. In 1949, Ho settled down in Taiwan with the Nationalist Government, and entered the Department of Fine Arts, Taiwan Provincial Normal School in 1950. He had studied under “the master of Taiwanese modern art,” Li Chun-shan, and had been known for his surrealist painting. Ho’s painting of surrealism made him one of the representative figures in the Taiwanese modern art movement, which peaked in the 1960s. In 1964, Ho went to study in Milan, and his style gradually shifted to geometric abstraction. Ho’s learning of calligraphy and seal carving at a younger age and his grasp of surrealist painting helped pave the way for his later painting of geometric abstraction, rendering him the master of Eastern geometric abstraction.
